Floating HIde - Falmouth, Cornwall

I returned to Falmouth for four days to work on my floating hide design and images. As I spent my third year of uni using it here, I decided to return as I had found some amazing spots to use it. A number of problems occurred before I even got into the water. Firstly I only brought one fin strap, meaning I could only use one fin. This prevented me from a number of locations where the current would have been to strong. Secondly the weather, especially Hurricane Gonzalo! For a couple of days the winds were causing lots of waves, making it a bumpy ride and fairly unsafe for my equipment but I did manage to get out a few times.

But apart from these little hiccups, it was an amazing experience. The birds behave as if your not there. I had a kingfisher fall asleep in front of me, when I was swimming around within a meter of its perch. I didn't get the variety of birds that I was hoping for but I did get regular encounters, which was the main thing.

I'm hoping to carry this on back in Norfolk but it all depends if I can get permission because every piece of decent water seems to be a reserve, which isn't a bad thing but many won't let me.

Species List: Kingfisher, Little egret, Redshank, Spotted Redshank, Dunlin, Godwit, Heron, Oystercatcher, Curlew, Wigeon and Mallard.
